PORTFOLIO: Environmental Signage Design

Thoughts on Environmental Design

Environmental design encompasses both exterior and interior applications of your identity system from the main monument or facade signage to interior design elements, product menus and wayfinding systems. Such a critical element should not be left to the offer of "free graphic design services" that many well-meaning sign fabricators offer. WDWerks is equipped to handle your signage design with an architectural background that allows us to design with the overall exterior aesthetic in mind while working within municipal code requirements and a thorough knowledge of fabrication that will bring your identity alive and communicate the quality that you are delivering to your customers.
Red Lion Hotels

A frustrating challenge with signage fabrication for the re-flagging of Red Lion Hotel's properties during their extensive rebranding campaign was achieving consistent color for both daytime and and nighttime backlit lighting conditions. After working with several fabricators to create working mock-ups we were able to formulate just the right combination of vinyl application for accurate color in all conditions as well as matching the metallic edges to the aluminum housing, resulting in a fresh, dynamic presence for a respected brand.
Barrel Room No. 6

Coeur d'Alene Cellars approached Whitestone Design Werks to apply their fresh, new identity for their wine bar in historic downtown Coeur d'Alene onto a new and distinctive signage application that had to comply with the Downtown Association's aesthetic requirements and the city of Coeur d'Alene's strict sign code, needless to say, the design passed the design criteria with flying colors.
TMI Travel Management, Inc.

Whitestone Design Werks provided signage design and worked with the sign fabricator to incorporate TMI's new identity on their new building in Post Falls, Idaho achieving excelent visibility and presence alongside the busy (by North Idaho standards) I-90 corridor.
Kootenai Medical Center

The refreshed identity that Whitestone Design Werks provided for Kootenai Medical Center (now a part of Kootenai Health) was perfectly suited for a more bold and dynamic signage presence in addition to saving on fabrication cost by moving away from the previous Times Roman typeface and its complex serif forms that was originally used for the logo that would have added to the fabrication cost.
Lincoln Plaza

The new identity that had been designed for G&B's property, Lincoln Plaza, in the heart of a revitalized downtown Spokane, was applied to the exterior monument signage, interior signage and decorative inlaid marble flooring in the front lobby.
